Mercury Measurements near the Lehigh Cement Plant - Talk at DeAnza College

Don Yee gave a summary for a general audience on the work with Sarah Rothenberg measuring atmospheric mercury near the Lehigh Cement Plant.

Soil, dust, and drop inlet sediment Hg and PCB concentrations

In this component, 360 samples were collected in soil, dust, and drop inlet sediment in industrial areas of the Bay Area and analyzed of PCBs and Hg. The objective of this component was to better understand where and at what magnitude high concentrations occur in the urbanized environment. Data was collected from the cities of Richmond, Vallejo, Berkeley, Oakland, Benicia, Pittsburg, Emeryville, Concord, San Leandro, Hayward, San Jose, Sunnyvale, San Carlos, San Bruno, South San Francisco and San Francisco, plus portions of unincorporated Contra Costa County.

Stormwater pump stations GIS

In this component we compiled the locations of pump stations along with a range of associated data where available such as dry and wet weather flow, watershed area, dominant land use, year build, and if flow is measured. The reason for generating this data was to provide a data base for BASMAA and the Water Board to discuss the potential for wet and dry weather treatment in relation to potential or known areas of PCB or Hg sources and “hotspots”.
