A multi-sensor sonde and a nitrate sensor were deployed at the Dumbarton Bridge on July 2nd, 2013 to provide temporally-intensive information on water quality and phytoplankton bloom dynamics. We are currently measuring temperature, conductivity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, pH, fluorescent dissolved organic matter, chlorophyll-a, phycocyanin and nitrate.

Major priorities for the first pilot year of the moored sensor monitoring program include investigations of sensor performance and accuracy, deployment of multiple sondes during critical periods to explore longitudinal and lateral variability, and efficient data processing and visualization. We hope to grow the moored sensor program in future years as part of a nutrients monitoring program for San Francisco Bay. Stay tuned as data become publicly available through the SFEI website!
