Ms. Lowe received her M.S. in Environmental Management from the University of San Francisco and B.A. in Biology from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Since joining the Institute in 1994, Ms. Lowe works primarily on the Regional Monitoring Program for Trace Substances (RMP) and other Contaminant Monitoring and Research studies with Dr. Bruce Thompson. Her Master's research focused on developing benthic community assessments for major San Francisco Estuary communities (part of a 5-year RMP pilot study). Ms. Lowe started in the RMP by doing data management, developing the quality assurance/quality control program, data compilation and graphics for special studies, and Annual Report production. She has worked on the Benthic Pilot Study since it's inception and continues to be interested in ways to evaluate contaminant exposure and effects in the Estuary. Ms. Lowe became the Associate RMP Manager (in November of 2001) managing the internal coordination of the RMP data management and QA/QC, contract and financial issues, the Status and Trends program, and the Exposure and Effects Pilot Study. Ms. Lowe recently helped SFEI to implement a new accounting and project management system (in 2002).
