Patty Frontiera received her Ph.D. in Environmental Planning from the University of California, Berkeley. Her dissertation explored the application and effectiveness of generalized spatial representations in geographic information retrieval, a topic with relevance to the management and retrieval of information in geospatial data clearinghouses and web mapping applications. Patty joined the staff of SFEI in 2008 where her current efforts focus on webGIS, environmental informatics, and the development of web-based enivornmental monitoring and planning tools. Patty also enjoys teaching and most recently was a visiting lecture at UC Berkeley for an introductory GIS class, Spring 2010.

What is the condition of California streams? The new California Streams and Rivers Portal provides information on the health of public waterways and includes interactive graphics, maps, and monitoring data that focus on the location extent, and health of the State’s streams and rivers. This new portal displays data from the State's Data Exchange Network (CEDEN) and can be found at www.CaWaterQuality.net, under the Ecosystem Health tab.
